Altera in 2024: A look back at our top stories
As we look ahead to 2025, our collaboration and development with our healthcare partners will only continue to get stronger and more meaningful. But before we enter the new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2024 and highlight some of our top stories.
Regarding our clients’ successes, we are extremely proud of Southern California’s Inland Empire Health Plan. It has made significant strides by implementing Altera’s dbMotion™ Solution across its diverse care settings, serving more than 1.5 million members and 28 unique facilities. IEHP has integrated 12 health systems and several other vendors with The dbMotion Solution. This implementation enables IEHP to collect data efficiently and innovatively, while also accessing real-time data to continue delivering quality care to its patients.
In addition, “Building Success: A Journey with Sunrise EHR” tells the story of Altera client Grand Lake Health System’s success in implementing Sunrise™ EHR. Previously using three different EHR systems, the organization sought a more intuitive and flexible platform for both clinicians and patients. The NIAHO® Hospital Accreditation Survey Program, which conducted an audit for Grand Lake, was immensely impressed with how Sunrise helped the organization drive better care delivery across the community and beyond.
Back in March, we recognized the true impact of doctors everywhere on National Doctors’ Day. We talked with Dr. Laura Kohlhagen, Dr. Mark Pratt and Dr. Jeanne Armstrong, three doctors who work at Altera, and as you’ll see, each share an inspiring and insightful view of what clinicians are experiencing in healthcare settings today and how Altera’s solutions are continuously empowering organizations of all sizes.
Next, more thoughts from our own Dr. Mark Pratt. In his blog, David vs. Goliath: The fight to keep rural hospitals independent, he discusses the financial challenges faced by rural hospitals. He explores the issues that arise when these hospitals merge with larger health systems and for-profit organizations. Potential consequences include hospital shutdowns, fewer local resources and delayed treatments. Dr. Pratt also positions Paragon® Denali as the best solution for smaller healthcare organizations, promoting greater financial and operational efficiencies.
For anyone working in the healthcare world, “downtime” is a familiar and dreaded term. At Altera, we address this challenge by offering cloud hosting. In Defeating Downtime with the Power of Cloud Hosting, Altera’s Shanna DeLeo discusses how cloud hosting enables access to applications and websites through the cloud, rather than relying on a single, on-premises server. In addition, she shares how cloud hosting provides efficiency, reliability and resilience through our Sunrise EHR system.
Finally, Expert Implementation Specialist Shawn Widenhofer addresses how Altera’s Ventus solutions help organizations manage the overwhelming, disorganized data often seen in healthcare environments. He highlights the vital need for analytical dashboards that translate decades of data in a single, user-friendly platform. Widenhofer also offers Ventus as a way to maintain data visibility and efficient ways to sort and organize information.
We’ve had a productive and successful 2024, and we are thrilled to continue partnering with our clients into 2025, during which we will keep helping our partners improve care delivery, every day.
