Calling all leaders: A sneak peek of the HCTC Executive Summit

URL Copied!

We’re heading into fall, which means it’s almost time for the Harris Customer Training Conference (HCTC), an annual event hosted by Harris, Altera’s parent company. Altera President Marcus Perez recently shared a preview of what attendees can expect during the conference being held October 8–10 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Before we gather for the full conference, we are excited to host C-Suite leaders from client organizations at our pre-conference Executive Summit, which will be held on October 7. This intimate gathering will provide a unique opportunity for leaders to meet like-minded peers with similar challenges and goals to your own organization. Our team has also developed engaging educational sessions featuring a diverse array of Altera thought leaders so you can bring actionable strategies back to your own teams.

Here is a snapshot of what CxOs will learn about at the Executive Summit:

The Next Phase in Healthcare’s AI Evolution

Artificial intelligence (AI) has garnered a lot of attention in healthcare over the last few years, and for good reason. From the exam room to the billing office, AI has the potential to support providers’ decision-making, reduce administrative burden and streamline revenue cycle processes, to name a few benefits. As with many emerging technologies, healthcare stakeholders are cautiously optimistic about AI: An American Medical Association (AMA) survey found that 41% of physicians are equally excited and concerned about its use in healthcare.

During this panel discussion, KLAS Research Director Tyson Blauer will moderate a dynamic conversation covering various aspects of the AI evolution, from technical developments to regulatory considerations.

Healthcare, Your Way: Maintaining Independence Today

Healthcare consolidation is a polarizing topic. Proponents claim that mergers and acquisitions enhance efficiency and help healthcare organizations that would otherwise close their doors. On the other hand, detractors say that consolidation limits competition and drives up costs. No matter your stance, it is clear that M&A activity in healthcare is rising steadily. As the Kaiser Family Foundation notes, from 2005 to 2022, the share of hospitals affiliated with health systems rose from 53% to 68%, and the share of physicians affiliated with hospitals or health systems rose from 29% to 41%.

This panel session will feature leaders from Altera’s Sunrise™, Paragon® and TouchWorks® EHR business units to spark a dialogue on maintaining independence and what organizations of all sizes can learn from each other.

A Hacker’s Take on Cybersecurity in Healthcare

According to HIMSS’ most recent healthcare cybersecurity survey, more than half of respondents reported that their organization experienced a significant security incident over the past year. Healthcare organizations have been a top target of malicious actors for years, and that is unlikely to change as the amount of healthcare data generated grows and data exchange improves. Cybersecurity touches all aspects of health systems, hospitals and practices: patient safety, the revenue cycle, operations and more.

In this session, an Altera cybersecurity expert and former hacker for the U.S. Army and National Security Agency will take you inside the mind of a hacker and share cybersecurity best practices that leaders of all disciplines should know so you can keep your organization and patients safe.

Two Years of Altera: A Look Back and the Path Ahead

Two years ago, Altera joined Harris and established our mission to bring healthcare to a higher place for everyone involved. Our clients have walked this path with us from day one, and you may be wondering what’s next as we continue toward the summit of what healthcare can be. Marcus Perez will close out our pre-conference program, discussing the organization’s journey thus far and where we are taking the business to build on our progress and partnerships with clients.

We look forward to seeing you in person at HCTC and encourage leaders to kick off the week with us at the Executive Summit! To register and get more details, click here.

Editor’s note: HCTC is for Altera and other Harris clients only.
